Side Door can handle most pre-recorded video formats such as mp4, mov, m4v, and mkv video files; however, we recommend the following video settings for the best live streaming experience.
For a live broadcast show, pleasure ensure your broadcast software settings are set to output as follows:
Format: mp4
1920 x 1080 px
Audio bitrate: 192 kbps
29.97 fps
Video codec: H.264 (AVC) (x264) - this matters because iPhone recordings use a different engine that conflicts in some broadcast softwares, so it needs to be converted to the more standard encoder
For a scheduled pre-recording, please provide download instructions for the file at least 72 hours before the event (Google Drive etc). The file size should not exceed 5 GB. Video settings must be as follows:
Format: mp4
Video codec: H.264 (AVC)
Video Resolutions: 1920 by 1080
Audio Codec: AAC
Audio Format: Stereo (5.1 is not supported)
FPS: 30 fps or lower
Audio bitrate: 192 kbps
Video bitrates: 1500 kbps - 6000 kbps (1.5 mbps - 6 mbps)
If you’d like to confirm your export falls within these parameters before sending it to your support staff, drop in your video file at the link here: https://onestreamtestcdn.b-cdn.net/
*Note that exporting right at a target bitrate of 6000 kbps may cause the final output of the video to land over 6000 kbps. Leaving some margin for error in your export is recommended to avoid going over spec. If your export exceeds the specifications above, you may be asked to re-export.
